Uh-Oh...
The vet got back to me at about 4:15 saying that Ashley was doing fine, but the "polyp" that the emergency hospital had seen and not removed wasn't a polyp at all, but an infection going all the way into her inner ear, puncturing the ear drum. It's something they wouldn't have seen unless she'd been put out.
"Does that mean she's deaf?"
"Oh no, I go scuba diving and puncture ear drums all the time."
"Is the infection life-threatening?"
"No, they're just very stubborn to get rid of."
So she's running some cultures to determine the right meds, and determine if there's bone damage. I swear, this cat has shown no symptoms of any kind of infection. If she had, we would have had her to the vet in a nanosecond.
