Ah, the charger plate...
Quite a formal and traditional piece of tableware. It is supposed to be the bottom plate of all the plates in your setting. It really is meant to be warmed up beforehand so the food on the dinnerplate on top is kept from going cold. Used way back when before microwaves and conventional ovens...
I think they are cool to use just as a regular plate (my partner eats big portions!),as am appetizer platter, or as a stand for candles etc. Go where your imagination takes you...
